  3. Read Mark 6:30-44.

  4. Consider the following questions.

Jesus said, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." (6:31) If you were one of the disciples, what would you expect?

  • a vacation time of fun and relaxation

  • some much needed peace and quiet

  • quality time with Jesus

  • a chance for prayer and meditation

  • anything but people

When you get to your destination, there are 5000 men, not counting women and children, waiting on the shore for you. (6:33-34) How do you feel now?

  • What a great opportunity for ministry!

  • I'm taking 'comp' time for this interruption.

  • Let's get out of here. No way I'm dealing with them now.

  • I have compassion for them, because they are like sheep without a shepherd. (6:34)

How do you respond when confronted with a problem that seems overwhelming?
