READING 23

  1. Read the headings in Mark 10:32-52.

  2. Find Jerusalem and Jericho on the map.

  3. Highlight verses 33, 34, 45, and 52 of chapter 10.

  4. Read Mark 10:32-52.

  5. Consider the following questions.

10:32-34 perhaps makes more sense if you read verse 32 assuming that the disciples know clearly Jesus' plan he states in verses 33-34.  How do the disciples and followers of Jesus respond?  Why?

Look again back at 9:31-32 where Jesus talked about his death.  In 9:33-34, what had the disciples been arguing about?  Now in 10:33-34 Jesus again talks about his death.  What is on the mind of the disciples James and John this time in 10:35-37?

When Jesus talked about the "cup" and the "baptism" (10:38), to what did James and John think he was referring?  To what was Jesus referring?

Read again the question Jesus poses in 8:37.  How is 10:45 the answer to that question?

Compare and contrast the healing of the blind man in 8:22-26 with the healing of blind Bartimaeus in 10:46-52.

How would you answer Jesus if he should ask you, "What do you want me to do for you?"  (10:51)
